Comics from Around the Galaxy April 11th 2018

This week in Star Wars comics is highlighted by two of the best Imperials known to fans. We also get one of the creepiest covers in Star Wars comics. Let’s get to it!

Darth Vader #14

DV

“Darth Vader continues his mission to bring Mon Cala to heel! As the Emperor grip tightens on the galaxy, no tolerance for rebellion can be afforded… especially not when being fomented by a surviving Jedi. Vader goes in for some wet work in this brutal story!”

My favorite ongoing Star Wars series returns this week as Vader continues his mission on Mon Cala. I have really enjoyed being able to see the stories that were only alluded to in the movies of Darth Vader hunting down the remaining Jedi. Having this story set on Mon Cala also adds an interesting twist to things as we have never seen Vader put on a planet like this.

I have a strong feeling that the Jedi we saw on the last page of last months issue is a Jedi from the Expanded Universe that is being brought back into the fold. What other reason do they have to keep them in the dark? We will see if this issue gives us any clues to the mystery Jedi’s identity.

Thrawn #3 of 6

Thrawn

“THE RISE OF THE GRAND ADMIRAL’ CONTINUES!
Lieutenant Thrawn has been moving fast through the ranks of the Empire, but he isn’t the only one…Meet Arihnda Pryce, as she too rises through the corrupt Coruscant political climate. But paths cross in mysterious ways as the two discover a dark secret within the Empire…”

The comic book adaptation of the Thrawn novel rolls on this week as we finally get to meet Arihnda Pryce. Rebels fans will remember her well as one of the ongoing antagonist throughout the show. In fact this was one of my favorite parts of the novel getting to see the rise of Pryce to Governor of Lothal.  Seeing Thrawn and her early interactions will add another layer to the scenes we already have in Rebels.
