As we already know Jon Favreau is working on a new live action Star Wars TV series for Disney’s yet to be launched streaming service. Other than that we do not have many more details but last night at the Solo: A Star Wars Story premiere Favreau dished on a few details to Nerdist about the upcoming show.

On top of talking about the new show taking place 7 years after Return of the Jedi Favreau also mentioned that the new show will utilize visual effects like he used in the live action remake of Jungle Book.
Hearing that Disney is dedicated to put in the money to use visual effects like those in Jungle Book is a great sign that they really want to hit this one out of the park as far visuals go. It makes sense that they would invest so heavily in this show as it will be one of the tent poll shows to sell their streaming service when it launches in 2019.
As far as the time frame that this series will take place, it opens up a lot of interesting stories that can be told. I for one would love to see some of the “Aftermath” characters show up in some way (please a live action Mr. Bones). It also allows for us to learn more about how the politics of the galaxy worked shortly after the fall of the Empire and maybe even see them touch on the building of the First Order.
What are your thoughts on this new series? What do you hope to see? Let me know in the comments below!
Update: Nerdist clarified their story to say that Favreau said his series takes place 7 years after the Battle of Yavin. This would change the series timeline to shortly after the Battle of Jakku.
