Comics from Around the Galaxy:July 25, 2018

Star Wars comics are back with stories from every corner of the galaxy this week!

Star Wars Adventures #12

Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala embark on an action-packed adventure where not all is as it seems in a story by fan-favorites Elsa Charretier and Pierrick Colinet! · Fun for Star Wars fans of all ages! · Plus, an exciting new Tales from Wild Space! · Star Wars Adventures: Forces of Destiny fan-favorite creator, Elsa Charretier, returns!

Keeping with the trend of the prequels getting a resurgence out of San Diego Comic Con the all ages comic Star Wars Adventures is telling a tale of Anakin and Padme. I for one am glad the prequels are getting all this attention again. I am well aware of the issues with the movies but that era is so ripe for storytelling that I am glad to see us get so many stories in varying mediums.

Doctor Aphra #22

STUCK IN A JUNKYARD JAIL AT WAR. IT CAN’T GET WORSE – RIGHT? I mean, unless you add a vengeful FORCE GHOST. And insane MURDERDROIDS. And a BOR BRAIN-LEECH. And a SENTIENT BIOHAZARD…Surely even rogue archaeologist DOCTOR APHRA can’t find a way to make things even worse. Wrong. Because her current beau and her ex are just about to meet…

Aphra is now the comic I recommend to anyone who misses some of the weird parts of Star Wars from the Expanded Universe. If you are not sold by “vengeful force ghost” then Aphra may not be the comic for you but if that in any way peaks your interest I would tell you to read Aphra today because that is only a taste of the bat shit crazy things in this book.

Lando Double or Nothing #3 (of 5)

LANDO’s luck ran out when he was captured by BATALLA. Batalla’s in luck with a big payoff if he turns Lando over to his enemies. And there’s a lot of them. Will a galaxy of bad guys finally get their due against the ultimate thorn in their side?

This book continues to just nail Lando as a character. When I am reading it I can hear the class that Billy Dee Williams brought to the character all those years ago. Let’s hope this will not be the last Lando series we get for a while because there are a ton of adventures to be told from his early years.
