After weeks of speculation and rumors Lucasfilm officially confirmed the cast of the upcoming Disney+ show The Mandalorian yesterday. If you have been following along with the trades and rumor sites none of the announcements come as any surprise but man is it a stacked cast.
Pedro Pascal (Narcos) has been cast in the title role as a lone Mandalorian gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy. He is joined by Gina Carano (Deadpool), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), Carl Weathers (Predator), Omid Abtahi (American Gods), Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man), and Nick Nolte (Affliction).
The first thing that stands out to most people is the inclusion of Apollo Creed himself, Carl Weathers. His name came up a few months ago thanks to some reporting by MakingStarWars.net. To have someone like Carl Weathers in Star Wars is just further proof of the crazy time we live in.
I would bet that now that we have an official cast we will see some sort of panel at Star Wars Celebration in April with the possibility of a trailer of some sort as well. This show is planned to launch with Disney+ in late 2019 so next year will be a stacked year of Star Wars content.
